Power down when ports are not active
When a computer or network device is switched off, the corresponding port of a traditional switch continues to consume a significant amount of power. The TL-SG1008D automatically recognises the link status of each port and reduces the power consumption of ports that are idle, resulting in energy savings of up to 80%.

Energy allocation according to cable length
Ideally, shorter cables would consume less power because less energy is lost over the length of the cable. This is not the case with most devices as they send the same amount of power over the cable regardless of whether it is 10 or 50 metres long. The TL-SG1008D analyses the length of the connected Ethernet cable and adjusts the power allocation accordingly instead of keeping the power consumption at the level of the conventional solution.
